FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the objective of the Council?

The objective of the Council is to build an industry body to help build the nascent impact investing and gender lens investing ecosystem, develop a compelling impact investing sector and create collaborative efforts to strengthen gender lens and Impact Investing to make the Philippines an attractive market for such investments.

Why are we talking about both gender and impact investing?

Impact Investing is focused on the broader scope of investing in social and environmental impact and is a fast-maturing industry globally, even while it is young in Southeast Asia. Gender Lens Investing is a newer field that looks specifically at the role of gender in investing. Both fields are closely related and have many similar players taking a leading role. Hence, we are looking at building a synergistic umbrella body.

Who can become a member?

Membership is open to investors of all types active in impact or gender lens investing and those who may be interested in exploring the field in the Philippines. We also welcome other key stakeholders in the ecosystem to sign up as advisory members, if there is a common interest and synergy to build the impact ecosystem.

Are there similar bodies in other countries?

There are global bodies like Global Impact Investment Network, Global Steering Groups on Impact investments and country-wise organizations like Indian Impact Investors Council.

Is there a membership fee to join?

Right now, we are looking at establishing the founding group. Membership fee is among many decisions that the founding group may choose to make.

What is the time expected from me?

Members are expected to take part in quarterly meetings of the Council, share learnings, collaborate with members and participate in learning and networking activities of the Council as they see fit.
